Construction

There are still opportunities and time for the construction sector to become circular. By looking at the RIBA work stages (0 to 7, presented as a circle) and raising material value we can create an industry where there is little need for raw materials. Time is limited, but there is still the chance to make the transition from a linear economy to a circular one. The image of an hourglass - which echoes the infinity symbol, a “lemniscate”, - communicates this urgency, but also the opportunity of materials that run infinitely. The holistic nature of this can be felt across the triple bottom line of planet, prosperity, and people.

This poster illustrates the relationship between ‘waste’, reuse, production of new elements and value. The circular economy often gets limited to a ‘waste management’ issue, which limits its ability as a driver of economic and social transition, creating sustainable jobs and new low carbon businesses.
